This event is for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies. Due to content relating to topics including transphobia, we recommend the event for people ages 14 and up. However, all ages are welcome (at your own discretion).
What to expect:
In this workshop, geared toward Canmore and Banff Pride’s community including our volunteers, staff, community partners, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies, we will learn about creating safety for our queer and trans community. This includes combating anti-trans hate and learning about best practices to safely combat the opposition in Alberta.
This is a continuation of the "Advocacy and Letter-Writing Workshop" held by Canmore Pride during the 2024 Canmore Pride Festival. If you didn't attend that session, you're still more than welcome to attend this workshop! There is lots to learn! No experience is necessary.
Topics will include a discussion of queer and trans rights in Alberta, Canada, the United States, Europe, and globally.
Pizza (meat, veggie and gluten-free options) and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
