Diversity and Inclusion Training for businesses, organizations and groups.
About
This workshop will aim to create a common language and understanding of Diversity, Equity, and inclusion concepts as they relate to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. We will define terms and speak to the experience of being 2SLGBTQ+ in Canadian society. This workshop will then provide you ideas, advice, and guidelines for serving your guests in an inclusive manner. Finally the presenter will speak to the unique needs of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the Bow Valley. This workshop is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where your questions are completely welcome, but will deal with heavy, potentially triggering topics.
DI Training Presenter: Aurora Borin
Aurora is an intersectional feminist, queer, geek, cosplayer, Wiccan priestess, gamer, animal lover, hobby cook, and more. She is a community organizer who loves to create brave, comfortable moments that encourage all to be more than they thought they could be.
She is a fierce advocate for2SLGBTQ+ folks, regularly speaking with a variety of organizations and businesses about the struggles our communities face and how to create more welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and diverse spaces. She has been privileged to speak before thousands at the Women's March on Calgary, as well as at Power of Being a Girl, Trans Day of Remembrance, International Women's Day, and many other important markers in the lives of girls, women, and 2SLGBTQ+communities.
She is a successful career musician and is acclaimed throughout Calgary and the Bow Valley for her abilities as a collaborative pianist and educator. Her work has been described as brilliant, but more to her liking, she was once called a "Force of Nature".
Her passions involve combining all of this into song, story, and community in order to provide truly meaningful moments.
Aurora lives in Banff, Alberta with her dog Cassie, who is the best dog. 13/10. Cassie is always adorable and never anything less than perfect. Aurora herself is bi/pansexual and is trans-identifying, though she prefers the label queer.
